Current Lab Research Team
I am a senior geoscience student at West Chester University. My biggest interests during my undergraduate research have been emerging contaminants, marine conservation, and environmental remediation. I have also spent time directing planetarium shows for the public and I am a 7 year PADI certified scuba diver. I look forward to continuing my education and career in marine recovery.
Meagan Lipka
Undergraduate Research Scientist
I am Geoscience major from West Chester University with a passion for lab and field work. I currently lead the chemistry group, assisting in the extraction and isolation of microplastic particles. My future plans include continued environmental and geochemical work in the professional field.
Karndeep Sidhu
Undergraduate Research Scientist
I am a a senior at WCU who will start as a master's student in Fall 2024. I am deeply interested in microbial ecology, geochemistry, and biogeochemical processes, with focus on unraveling the complexities of microbial communities in various ecosystems. Through interdisciplinary approaches, I aim to contribute to our understanding of how microbial communities shape and respond to environmental changes.
Cody Macias
Graduate Laboratory Assistant
I am senior geology major at West Chester University. My current research focuses on quantifying the flux of microplastics to sensitive marine ecosystems. I also analyze organic compounds in lake sediments to reconstruct past environmental change.
James Simpson
Undergraduate Research Scientist
As a senior at WCUs Earth and Space Sciences department, I have a broad range of interests across multiple disciplines. I currently study microplastic pollution in freshwater streams. I also will be studying the structural evolution of the Sevier Fault in Utah.
